Following the Prime Minister's announcement earlier today, all businesses (other than essential services) are in temporary lock down until April 13. A three weeks break to slow down the spread of the COVID-19. These businesses will have to go into lock down by 11:59pm, March 24.

Each year, the Systèmes Sous-sol Québec team travels to Connecticut in September to participate in the annual convention of the Basement Systems International network of waterproofing and crawl space contractors.

This year was a milestone for our team. During the awards gala, the Systèmes Sous-sol Québec team won the

Systèmes Sous-sols Québec receives the CAA Québec accreditation

Systèmes Sous-sols Québec was recently selected by CAA Québec as a recommended company for residential work in basements and foundations.

The whole process was lengthy, since CAA follows a fairly rigorous evaluation system under which the assessment is made based on criteria such as credibility and business skills (permits, complaints, etc.), solvency, compliance (tenders, contracts, liability insurance etc.), as well as reputation. In fact, 75 of Systèmes Sous-sols Québec’s customers were contacted by an independent firm to conduct a survey on important criteria such as quality of work, courtesy of staff etc.

The result of the survey showed that with a score of 93% Systèmes Sous-sols Québec ranks higher than the average of CAA-recommended companies within its business sector.

Great success at the National Conference of the Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors (CAHPI).

The Québec Association of Building Inspectors (AIBQ) recently organized the 22nd Annual National Conference of the Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors (CAHPI), which took place at the Marriott Chateau Champlain in downtown Montreal.

It was a great event that brought together more than 300 building inspectors from the four corners of Canada and Quebec, as well as several companies serving these inspectors.

We had the chance to participate in this conference as a platinum sponsor, thus demonstrating our support to the inspectors due to their importance in our industry.

We were delighted to meet these inspectors, to do a presentation on issues basements and foundations have and to inform them about all the new technologies in the basement repair field.

Many inspectors paid a special attention to our alternative system to the French drain, the WaterGuard, which goes against all conventions and is installed from the inside of a foundation. Many inspectors were surprised that last year more than 30,000 basement water infiltration repairs were carried out by the Basement Systems network.

Inspectors also asked many questions about the crawlspace insulation systems as well as push pier and wall anchor systems for sinking and sagging foundation walls.

We are very happy to have met all these inspectors and the AIBQ team who did a great job during the conference.

The Québec Association of Building Inspectors (AIBQ) is hosting this year's 22nd Annual National Conference of the Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors (CAHPI).

The conference will be held in downtown Montreal from 24 to 26 September, and will boast many educational sessions and seminars held by leading speakers in the domains of property law, residential technology, insurance etc. CAHPI aims to help its member inspectors improve their skills and knowledge and as such keep up with its mission to promote and enhance its members professionalism and competency.

Just like the last conference held back in 2009, Basement Systems Quebec is participating as an expert speaker on the topic of basement waterproofing as well as foundation repair.

During this educational session, Michael Haydamous, the company president, will talk about the main problems of basements and foundations, discuss the causes and methods that would allow building inspectors to detect problems especially by looking at the symptoms.

Interview with GMREB concerning basement problems
