Mr. Cloghesy has lived in his house for 4 years and had a moisture problem in his earthen crawl space. Moisture from the crawl space spreads to upper floors and sometimes creates a foul odor. He contacted Systèmes Sous-sol Québec to install a vapor barrier in his crawl space in order to regain the comfort of his home and use the space as storage.
To solve our client's problem, our experts installed our drainage membrane as well as our CleanSpace coating. The drainage membrane is installed on the earthen floor, it creates a drainage space for water to flow to the interior French drain or sump pump system. Ideal for covering earthen and rocky ground, it creates an air space which acts as a thermal protection giving a certain insulation value. Next, our 20mm thick CleanSpace liner is a blend of high and low density polyethylene making it puncture resistant and flexible. It thus blocks moisture from the basement and gives a clear and clean appearance to the crawl space.
With this solution, Mr. Cloghesy will be able to find the comfort of his home and use his crawl space as storage space.
This house in Kirkland started to witness signs of sagging floors, such as sloping floors, cracks in interior walls, and gaps between existing columns and girders in the crawl space.

After finding our company, we sent our team to inspect his area for free and we informed him that he needed to stabilize his foundation.
We have stabilized this failed foundation by installing 9 support piles.
Support pillars are the best option when earth conditions are unknown. They make it possible to raise the foundation towards its initial position, to minimize the disturbances during the installation which is done quickly, and that solves the problem once and for all.
For this client, we have carried out the installation of the support pillars from the outside and had to excavate, but it is possible to do it from the inside too.
When Mr. Micheal called us this year, he was really upset and tired of having to deal with water seepage every year during freeze and thaw cycles.
He also told us that now the land is now sloping towards the wall.
Also in winter, he was always seeing puddles caused by thaw near the foundations!
We went to our customer's place for a free inspection, and during the inspection, our specialist noticed the damage that the groundwater infiltration caused to the floor. The space was very wet.
In order to solve this problem, we informed him that he needs to waterproof the basement and finish the floor.
We started by installing the WaterGuard Indoor Drainage System. The WaterGuard Internal Drain is installed at the joint between the wall and the footing of the foundation and is covered with concrete to blend into the decor.
Then our discreet SuperSump pump system is connected to the WaterGuard. The SuperSump system is a sump pump liner that is unobtrusive and not bulky. You can put your things on it without being afraid that something will fall in it.
Once completed, we have installed the ThermalDry floor system which is an inorganic mat resistant to water and moisture. The ThermalDry modular tiles are approximately 12 square inches. They are lifted by pegs before they are not directly on the concrete slab, allowing the soil to breathe.
