Mr. Dallaire has lived in his house in Ham-Nord since 2008 and plans to live there for many more years. Over time, he had noticed that the humidity in his house was high, traces of mold were forming on the floors, the smell was unpleasant in all the rooms of the house and he had problems with termites and rodents. Since buying the house in 2008, he had never returned to his crawl space but he finally decided to do an internet search and found our website. He contacted Systèmes Sous-sol Québec in order to put an end to all his problems and find the comfort of his home.
Our specialist arrived on site to make a free estimate. After listening to the customer, he visited the crawl space which was the cause of all his worries. It had an uninsulated earthen crawl space that had several air leaks and some wooden beams. The humid air from outside and that coming from the earthen floor made the crawl space very humid and that produced mildew on the wooden beams and elsewhere in the house. It also caused foul odors and humidity in the house.
Our experts went to the site to isolate the crawl space. They first installed SilverGlo insulation boards on the crawl space walls, then they installed 3/4 inch TerraBlock insulation sheets. These sheets are installed on the ground and adjust according to the ground and allow to insulate the crawl space. SilverGlo Panels and Terrablock Sheets combined together are the ideal option for achieving the best possible energy efficiency. You will keep the cold outside and the heat inside your crawl space! To finalize the whole thing, they put our CleanSpace membrane to cover and protect the Terrablock and thus offer an isolated and dry environment.
With this solution, the customer was able to notice very quickly that the humidity in his house had decreased considerably and the unpleasant smell was gone. Not to mention that he now had a clean, dry crawl space!
