Mr. Batah contacted Basement Systems Qc because he felt a lot of humidity in his house and this has affected the comfort of his home.
The cause? Our client's crawl space had water infiltration and water accumulated on the earthen floor especially in spring or on rainy days. This pedestal sump pump was no longer working and therefore could not remove water from the ground. Earthen soil and water cause a lot of moisture in the crawl space and therefore affect the rest of the house.
To solve our client's problem, our experts removed his pump in order to install our SmartSump sump pump system. They covered the earthen floor with a drainage membrane that will be able to direct water to the SmartSump and which adds some insulation value. Then they added a CleanSpace vapor barrier coating on top of the drainage membrane to insulate the earthen floor of the house and block moisture from the floor. Finally, they installed our Sanidry Sedona dehumidifier to control the humidity level.
This basement in Mont-Tremblant was very humid due to water infiltration. Mr. Mendez said that he saw mold stains on the walls.
He contacted Systèmes Sous-sol Québec for a free estimate and inspection.
Our specialist Jean-Philippe noticed that our client did not have a sump pump system in his basement and he could clearly see the traces of water infiltration on the concrete block foundation walls.
So, our experts installed our SuperSump sump pump system which includes a 1/2 HP Zoeller cast iron pump as well as a WaterGuard interior French drain. The WaterGuard is placed on the foundation footing all along the walls to collect water from the foundation walls and soil to direct it to the SuperSump.
We did not install a vapor barrier, but it was suggested to the customer.
With this solution Mr. Mendez now has a dry basement.
Our client who lives in Mont-Tremblant initially contacted us because he wanted to fix his crawl space. When humidity is high it causes mold to grow, and this affects airflow throughout your home and moves the spores in the void to the upper floors of your home.
During our client’s call, one of our customer service representatives spoke to him about our crawl space encapsulation systems and explained that we have products specifically designed to transform the crawl space into a healthy, dry and usable space.

Then we neutralized the mold with Mold-X2 treatment.
And finally, the CleanSpace vapor barrier membrane was installed on the floor in order to block water vapor. The antibacterial additive injected into the membrane prevents the growth of mold.
After the encapsulation of the crawl space, the value of the house has increased and we are very happy to have been able to complete this project in Mont-Tremblant .
