Mr. Mann has lived in his house since 2002. He once had up to 8 ”of water in his basement which completely destroyed his floor. He hadn't redone his basement since, because he knew the water seepage was going to happen again. Since then, he has always had high humidity and this greatly impacts his comfort in his home. He contacted Systèmes Sous-sol Québec in order to find a permanent solution to his problem of water infiltration and humidity to finish his basement.
In order to solve our client's problem, our experts first installed our WaterGuard interior drain system in their basement. A trench is dug at the bottom of the foundation walls and the WaterGuard is laid there. Water seeping through the block walls flows to the WaterGuard and the WaterGuard directs it directly to the sump pump system. Subsequently, they laid a drainage membrane directly on the block walls. It has the effect of directing the water which comes from the walls towards the WaterGuard. And to finish it off, they laid our CleanSpace coating over the drainage membrane. It cuts the moisture from water infiltration of the walls and gives a clear and bright appearance to the basement. It is made of different layers of materials, including polyethylene and then an antimicrobial, to prevent mold growth.
With this solution, Mr. Mann will be able to finish his basement and will no longer have a moisture problem.
This client has been living in his East Montreal home for 15 years, but it was built in 1948. The uninsulated crawl space is very wet and there is a lot of moisture coming from this space and going upstairs.
The client never entered the crawl space and he did not know if there was any water infiltration, but he clearly had moisture and mold odors on the upper levels.
Previously, the client had had some of the beams that had been molded replaced by other metal beams. This indicated that the humidity level was very high. When organic building materials deteriorate in this way, the problem must be addressed at its source.
So we installed a complete crawl space encapsulation and insulation system:
SilverGlo insulation preserves the warmth of foundation walls and reflects it inward.
The CleanSpace membrane is a very resistant vapor barrier. It blocks moisture and contains an antibacterial that prevents mold growth.
The SmartDrain is a dry well that collects water from the ground.
And finally, the SaniDry Sedona is a very powerful dehumidifier that dries the air crawl space, and that resituates in space to dry materials. It collects water from the air and lowers the moisture content to an acceptable and recommended level (50%). The water is automatically evacuated away from the house. It is a very powerful system that does not require your work. It does the work for you to improve the air quality in the crawlspace, but also throughout the house.
