An encapsulation that changed everything in Saint-Benjamin, Quebec!

Challenge

A homeowner in Saint-Benjamin contacted us after noticing serious problems in his crawl space: excessive humidity, persistent odors and visible mold. These conditions were adversely affecting indoor air quality, and led to fears of structural damage to the house, particularly to the joists and insulation. The customer was looking for a long-lasting solution that would get to the root of the problem. After a thorough inspection, our team recommended total encapsulation of the crawl space, accompanied by a drainage and moisture control system. The aim was to completely insulate the space while ensuring autonomous water and moisture management.

Solution

As a solution:

First, we installed a CleanSpace membrane on all the walls of the crawl space. This high-density polyethylene membrane acts as an ultra-resistant vapor barrier, preventing any rising damp from the ground or foundations. Due to its continuous, sealed installation, it creates a truly watertight envelope, isolating the crawl space from the outside environment and considerably reducing the risk of condensation and mold.
Next, we installed a SmartSump sump pump to quickly collect and evacuate any water infiltration, whether from run-off or condensation. It is equipped with a water level alarm system, which immediately warns the homeowner in the event of an overload, providing additional peace of mind.
Finally, to complete the system and guarantee long-term dry air, we installed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. This model is designed to operate efficiently in tight spaces such as crawl spaces. It maintains a stable humidity level, limiting mold growth and allergen proliferation, and contributing to significantly improved indoor air quality. It also features an automatic drainage system, eliminating the need for manual maintenance.

The customer noticed an immediate improvement in air quality throughout the house. The crawl space is now clean, dry, insulated and free of mold, with lasting protection against water infiltration and moisture problems.
