Installation of TripleSafe Sump Pump System with IceGuard Discharge Line in Courcelles, Quebec
Challenge
A homeowner in Courcelles, Quebec, contacted our team after several basement water intrusions following heavy rain events. The basement is not finished and client wants to transform it into a living area. Signs of efflorescence developed on the concrete walls and occasional water infiltration in some corners. During the free inspection, our specialist identified key risk factors:
- Absence of a sump pump system: Without a robust sump pump system, a basement is exposed to potential flooding during storms or snowmelt, foundation deterioration, including wall bowing, or slab cracks. On the other side, absence of reliable sump pump system will surely result in property devaluation, as water damage reduces resale appeal.
- Discharge line was very close to the house's foundation, risking the water to infiltrate again inside the basement.
- Health risks due to elevated humidity and bad air quality within the basement.
Solution
Our solution consisted of installing the TripleSafe sump pump system, and linking it to a discharge line far from the home's foundation:
TripleSafe Sump Pump System: Including three lines of defense, for maximum protection:
1. Primary Pump: 1/3 HP Zoeller pump for regular water evacuation.
2. Secondary Pump: 1/2 HP Zoeller pump activated when water exceeds normal levels or if primary fails.
3. UltraSump Battery Backup Pump: Activated during power outages. Capable of pumping over 11500 gallons on a fully charged battery.
The presence of such a reliable sump pump system will provide moisture Control, preventing mold growth and thus improving indoor air quality. In addition, hydrostatic pressure from infiltrated water will be reduced, thus preventing cracks and foundation settlement.
Discharge Lines including IceGuard, designed to eject water from the side ports if the external line freezes or becomes clogged with ice or debris. the discharge line is extended about 10 feet from the foundation and terminated with a LawnScape outlet to prevent erosion.
