This existing sump pump system was the main concern of the client. Not only did it overflow regularly, but an open sump pump pit causes too much humidity in a basement as if it were a humidifier.
As the client's chalet is right by the river bank, the water table was really high and as such you can clearly see its level during the time we were installing the sump pump system. This didn't prevent us to do the work, and we installed our pumps in the sump pit right from the time we dug it in order to be able to work properly.
Here is the picture during the installation of the TripleSafe sump pump system. You can clearly see the water table level before we started running the pumps.
The best way to discharge a sump pump is not to be dependent on any system such as the municipality rain sewage system or the sanitary sewer system, since both could result in a sewer backup during heavy rains, and the latter is even illegal. As such, we always prefer to run our discharge line far from the house and let the water discharge into the soil.
Since we use a discharge line to discharge the water from the sump pump system, and the discharge line runs at a depth of up to 1 foot under the surface, this line will probably freeze in winter. As a foolproof solution, we install the IceGuard unit, which ensures the water will always be pumped out.
Many clients in Boisbriand, like in many areas in Quebec, face water infiltration problems in their basements mainly through an improper sump pump system.
We have helped our client solve this problem by installing our best sump pump system available.
