PROBLEM

Our customer noticed a significant difference in his electricity bills; there appeared to be a major loss of heating. He contacted us and learned that this loss was from the uninsulated crawl space.

SOLUTION

The customer chose the SmartDrain combination, which protects the crawl space in case there was any flood, and is specially designed for crawl spaces.

 In addition the CleanSpace encapsulation was also installed to protect the area from moisture. The CleanSpace membrane is composed of several layers of plastic with different characteristics in terms of flexibility and resistance to punctures and tears.

The problem

Ms. Lauzé had problems with water infiltration in her basement that had entered through the joint between the footing and the foundation walls. This had created mold and completely damaged her floor.

The solution

Install a WaterGuard interior foundation drain all along the foundation walls. The WaterGuard sits directly on the footing and collects water from the joint and walls to direct it to the existing sump pump system. Once installed, it is covered with concrete, ready for the installation of the floor and the bottom of the drywall, services that Basement Systems can also offer Everlast and ThermalDry.

Water in a crawl space is not a good thing, since it makes the air humid, the air of the whole house is affected by this moisture, and building materials will deteriorate more quickly.
