Residential Drainage and SuperPump® Sump Pump in Maskinonge, Quebec
Challenge
The owner of a home in Maskinongé, Quebec, was facing persistent problems with water infiltration and moisture in the basement, particularly during heavy rains and snowmelt. Water tended to accumulate around the sump pit, causing increased hydrostatic pressure on the foundation. This situation resulted in moisture stains on the concrete slab and increased the risk of mold, material deterioration, and long-term structural damage.
Solution
A comprehensive groundwater management system was implemented to address the issue at its source. A SuperPump® sump pump was installed to ensure rapid and continuous drainage of water before it accumulates in the basement, thereby improving moisture control and protecting the home’s foundation.
In addition, a new discharge line was installed to effectively direct the pumped water away from the house, thereby reducing hydrostatic pressure around the foundation. The entire system allows for better management of stormwater and groundwater drainage, limiting future infiltration and ensuring a drier, more stable, and protected indoor environment.
