Complete renovation and protection of a crawl space in Rivière-Rouge, Quebec
Challenge
In Rivière-Rouge, a homeowner was facing significant moisture and water infiltration problems in his crawl space. Water was seeping in through the garage drain, causing moisture buildup, condensation on the walls, persistent odors, and poor insulation. These conditions led to gradual deterioration of the structure, a significant increase in energy costs, and an uncomfortable and unhealthy indoor environment.
Solution
To resolve these issues permanently, the Systèmes Sous-sol Québec team implemented a comprehensive solution combining CleanSpace™ drainage membrane, CleanSpace™ vapor barrier, and SilverGlo™ wall insulation.
- The CleanSpace™ drainage membrane, installed under the vapor barrier, optimizes water flow to the perimeter drain or sump pump thanks to its honeycomb surface, while improving the strength and durability of the encapsulation system.
- The CleanSpace™ vapor barrier, consisting of seven 20 mm thick layers, acts as an airtight barrier against moisture. It prevents groundwater vapor from evaporating into the air, thereby limiting mold growth, organic material decay, and pest proliferation. Thanks to its UltraFresh antimicrobial additive, it effectively protects against fungal growth and maintains a healthy environment.
- Finally, SilverGlo™ insulation provides an effective thermal barrier that improves the energy efficiency of the crawl space and helps reduce heat loss.
As a result of this work, the crawl space is now dry, clean, and well insulated. The owner now has a space that is fully protected against water infiltration, more energy efficient, and sustainable. This project perfectly illustrates Systèmes Sous-sol Québec's ability to design customized solutions to restore, insulate, and protect crawl spaces throughout Quebec.
