How We Remedied a Damp Crawl Space in Saint-Patrice-de-Beaurivage, QC
Challenge
In a home located in Saint-Patrice-de-Beaurivage, the crawl space had persistent moisture issues. The exposed earthen floor allowed water vapor to rise, leading to condensation on the walls and floor, mold growth, and musty odors. The walls lacked insulation, leading to significant heat loss and temperature instability throughout the house. These conditions exposed the foundation and structural wood to deterioration and increased the risk of indoor air quality issues, which could harm the occupants’ health and reduce the home’s energy efficiency. The homeowners were looking for a sustainable, comprehensive solution to remediate the crawl space and protect the house from water infiltration, moisture, and structural damage.
Solution
To address these issues, our team fully encapsulated the crawl space. We installed a CleanSpace vapor barrier that completely covers the floor to block moisture from the ground and create a durable barrier against condensation and water infiltration. To complete the protection and improve thermal insulation, we installed SilverGlo insulation on the crawl space walls, which reduces heat loss, stabilizes the temperature, and protects the structures from moisture. This combined approach not only sanitizes the space but also prevents mold growth, reduces odors, protects the foundation, and improves the home’s energy efficiency. The crawl space is now a dry, clean, and sustainable space, contributing to a healthier and safer indoor environment.
