From a damp crawl space to a healthy, high-performance space in Laurierville, QC
Challenge
In Laurierville, this crawl space was far from functional. It was very damp, with condensation, odors wafting up into the house, and a constant chill that could be felt all the way up through the floors. The exposed ground and uninsulated walls also encouraged mold growth, increased heat loss, and compromised overall comfort.
Solution
To remedy the situation, a comprehensive renovation was carried out. First, a drainage membrane was installed to better control water flow and prevent it from accumulating. Next, CleanSpace vapor barrier was installed to cover the floor, block moisture, and make the space cleaner. Finally, the walls were insulated with SilverGlo panels, a rigid insulation with an R-value of 11, designed to limit heat loss thanks to its reflective surface.
Today, the crawl space is dry, clean, and much more energy-efficient. There are no more odors, moisture is under control, and the floors are more comfortable. This transformation not only resolves existing issues but also prevents those that might arise in the long term.
