Diagnostic et encapsulation complète d'un vide sanitaire problématique à Saint-Esprit, Qc
Challenge
In this home located in Saint-Esprit, the crawl space showed signs of gradual deterioration caused by uncontrolled moisture. The homeowner was dealing with sagging, cold floors, a persistent musty odor throughout the house, and constant discomfort on the ground floor. The inspection revealed standing water on the ground, insufficient insulation, and materials already damaged by prolonged exposure to moisture, indicating an active water infiltration problem beneath the structure.
Our team at Systèmes Sous-sol Québec implemented a comprehensive solution designed to simultaneously address the water, the structure, and the insulation. The goal was to regain control of the moisture at its source, stabilize the foundation, and transform a deteriorated space into a healthy and sustainable crawl space.
Solution
Our team at Systèmes Sous-sol Québec implemented a comprehensive solution designed to address water, structural issues, and insulation simultaneously. The goal was to control moisture at its source, stabilize the foundation, and transform a deteriorated space into a healthy and sustainable crawl space.
Details of the installed solutions
- Drainage mat: Installed directly on the ground, it acts as a first line of defense by capturing water before it accumulates under the house. The water is then directed to the drainage system to prevent stagnation.
- CleanSpace: an encapsulation membrane installed on the crawl space surfaces. It acts as a continuous waterproof barrier that completely isolates the space from moisture coming from the ground and the outside air.
- SmartJacks: adjustable structural supports installed under the main beams. They correct floor sagging and restore permanent stability to the structure.
- SilverGlo: insulation panels installed on the crawl space walls. They reduce heat loss and improve the home’s overall energy efficiency while helping to control condensation.
- TripleSafe: a main sump pump system that ensures continuous and reliable water removal, even during heavy rain or system overload.
- IceGuard: a device installed on the drain line to prevent water backflow in winter when the exterior outlet may be blocked by ice.
- Outdoor discharge line: directs pumped water away from the foundation to reduce the risk of water re-infiltration around the home.
The end result is a crawl space that is completely remediated, structurally stabilized, and protected against moisture, water infiltration, and weather fluctuations.
