Correction of residential foundation settlement in Saint-Fabien-de-Panet, QC
Challenge
Our team at Systèmes Sous-Sol Québec recently carried out stabilization work in Saint-Fabien-de-Panet on a residential foundation showing several signs of settlement. The homeowners had been noticing visible cracks in the footing for some time, as well as changes in certain floors and openings in the house. These symptoms indicated gradual movement of the structure caused by a lack of adequate support beneath the foundation.
Soil conditions and freeze-thaw cycles had contributed to weakening the stability beneath certain sections of the property. Without intervention, the problem risked continuing to worsen and leading to more significant structural damage over time.
Solution
After inspecting the foundation, our team recommended installing the push piers system to permanently stabilize the structure. This solution transfers the weight of the house to deeper, more stable soil, thereby reducing the risk of future movement.
The push piers were strategically installed beneath the affected sections of the foundation. Thanks to their design, they can be screwed directly into the ground until they reach a layer strong enough to support the building’s load. This method provides excellent stability while minimizing major excavation around the home.
Once the work was completed, the foundation benefited from much stronger and more stable structural support. The homeowners now have a long-term solution designed to protect their home from further settlement issues and ground movement over time.
