As a start, we installed our WaterGuard Indoor Drainage System. The WaterGuard Internal Drain is installed at the joint between the wall and the footing of the foundation and is covered with concrete to blend into the decor.

Then our SuperSump pump system is connected to the WaterGuard. The SuperSump system is a sump pump liner that is unobtrusive and not bulky. You can put your things on it without being afraid that something will fall in it.

Once completed, we have installed the ThermalDry floor system which is an inorganic mat resistant to water and moisture.

The problem

Mr. Cloghesy had an earthen crawl space which was very wet. Moisture from the crawl space spreads to upper floors and sometimes creates a foul odor. He contacted Systèmes Sous-sol Québec to install a vapor barrier in his crawl space in order to regain the comfort of his home and use the space as storage.

The solution

 Install our drainage membrane as well as our CleanSpace coating. The drainage membrane is installed on the earthen floor, it creates a drainage space for water to flow to the interior French drain or sump pump system. Ideal for covering earthen and rocky ground, it creates an air space which acts as a thermal cushion giving a certain insulation value. Next, our 20mm thick CleanSpace liner is a blend of high and low density polyethylene making it puncture resistant and flexible. It thus blocks moisture from the basement and gives a clear and clean appearance to the void.

This customer's existing sump pump was causing too much humidity and odours in the basement, especially because the pit is open. In addition, having a plastic pump which overheats, a ball on a wire floater which gets stuck, and no back-up system left the client vulnerable to basement floods. We replaced this with our SuperSump system and a back-up Ultrasump system.  Now this homeowner can have peace of mind, that the water will be diverted away from his basement, even if there is a power outtage!
