Encapsulating a Crawl Space in Westmount, QC
The family that lives in this beautiful mansion in Westmount continually suffered from problems caused by the crawl space under the house. Moisture, cold floors, musty smells and floors that squeak finally pushed the owners to call us in order to encapsulate this space under their house.
Our specialist Peter Romaniuk recommended to install the CleanSpace encapsulation membrane to cut moisture and reduce mold, as well as the wall panels Silverglo to insulate the exposed parts of the foundation wall. The difference is evident in the pictures you see here...
What a beautiful crawl space encapsulation project in Montreal!
This client initially contacted us in 2015, because he was starting to consider doing something with his crawl space. After receiving several tips, he postponed the project until he decided what he wanted to do exactly. In May 2018, he contacted us again to tell us that he wanted to sign with us. He wanted us to completely encapsulate the house of the earth and solve the problem of water infiltration that appeared. So we installed a crawl space drain so that the water was collected and redirected to the SuperSump sump pump system. Finally, the CleanSpace membrane isolates the house from the earth so that the water vapor does not humidify the space.

Stabilizing a crawl space in Montreal, Qc
The foundation of Mr. Diaz's house was slowly sagging. He knew that if he does nothing, his foundation will continue to sag. So he wanted to have it fixed before the problem gets worse. He decided to contact Système Sous-sol Québec to obtain a permanent solution.
The problem was that the ground under the foundation is weak and unstable. This caused movement of the wooden beams which support the weight of the house causing overload of weight and slits in the beams in several places. Because of this, the foundation was quietly sagging.
The solution for our client is to install SmartJack supports to support the joist reinforcement device in place. A hole is dug in the earth for each SmartJack installed and is filled with compacted fill to create a stable base. About ten brackets were installed in order to support the weight evenly and straighten the floor to the floor above in its initial position.
With this solution, Mr. Diaz will have nothing more to fear for his foundation.
SmartJack system to stabilize a sagging floor
PROBLEM
Krystle, the owner of a house in Montreal, was facing issues due to complications with her floor. There were several areas incarnating floor slops. In addition, there some gaps between the floor and some of the interior wall. Our specialist Cesar visited Krystle for a free inspection. In addition to the bouncy floor, some doors and windows were stuck, making them difficult to open or close.
While inspecting the crawlspace, Cesar immediately felt the excess moisture. The wood began to rot and to become more and more weak. Consequently, the main beams and floor joists were unable to support the weight of the house, leading to sagging floor.
SOLUTION
Installing the SmartJack system to stabilize the floor joists in the crawlspace. In this case, it included six galvanized steel columns with a 16'' horizontal beam. What sets our SmartJack system apart is that the columns are adjustable depending on the size of each crawlspace. Additionally, galvanized steel is corrosion-resistant, thus ensuring the durability of the system. On the other hand, the installation of the columns and the horizontal beam is quick, with minimal disruption to the household.
