In Saint-Elzéar, our client was looking for a solution to address the problematic conditions in their crawl space. The area was affected by excessive moisture, which could lead to persistent odors, condensation, a feeling of damp air, and conditions conducive to mold growth. Since the crawl space plays a significant role in a home’s comfort and air quality, it was essential to implement a long-term solution rather than a mere temporary fix. Our solution involved creating a better-controlled environment by installing a drainage matting, a CleanSpace® vapor barrier, and a SmartSump® sump pump. The membrane manages water beneath the structure, while the CleanSpace® system seals the crawl space to limit vapor infiltration from the ground. The SmartSump® pump completes the installation by ensuring the efficient removal of collected water.

With this new setup, the crawl space now benefits from better protection against moisture and water infiltration, while helping to preserve the foundation, improve the home’s comfort, and maintain better indoor air quality.

PROBLEM

Our client, living in Disraeli, was having problems with his crawl space. In fact, his house is located on the edge of a lake. Thus he had difficulty heating his crawl space. In addition, there was excess humidity, which damaged the air quality in the house.

Our customer visited our website and filled out the form for a free inspection. Our specialist Alain entered the crawlspace for a detailed inspection. He directly noticed the excess humidity through the efflorescence stains on the walls. In addition, there was a bad smell. Alain explained to our client that the solution lies in the encapsulation of the crawlspace, indicating that a crawlspace in such state is very harmful for the house's residents, and on the other hand, it could cause structural damage in the near future.

SOLUTION

The encapsulation of the crawl space consists of installing our CleanSpace system, including two types of covering on the floor: The first drainage membrane equipped with "honeycomb" spaces to be able to retain infiltrated water, and the second membrane will act as a vapor barrier for not allowing  moisture to spread.

Additionally, our revolutionary SilverGlo thermal insulation is installed on crawlspace walls to prevent air from escaping, and subsequently losing temperature.

Finally, our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier is installed as an additional tool to control humidity.

In Saint-Joseph-De-Coleraine, Quebec, a homeowner was concerned with structural deficiencies within his crawl space, where the rim joist showed signs of deflection due to prolonged exposure to elevated moisture levels. This had led to noticeable sagging in the floor above. To restore structural integrity, we installed three SmartJack crawl space support beams, specifically engineered for load-bearing reinforcement.
